Phd position in low-power event-driven smart acoustic processing
Applications are invited for candidates to work on a project that will develop an ultra-low power event-driven VLSI smart acoustic processing system useful for networks running on a restricted power budget such as the Internet of Things.
We are looking for candidates for two doctoral positions. One position is for a student who will develop ultra low-power analog/digital VLSI circuits that combine cochlea circuits (http://aer-ear.ini.uzh.ch) and event-driven deep network circuits (see publication list at sensors.ini.uzh.ch). The second position is for a student to develop the event-driven deep network architectures for processing the sensor outputs.
Requirements
Requirement for 1st position: The candidate should have a strong background in electrical engineering particularly circuit design, and signal processing. The person should have already prior experience and classes in circuit design specifically in analog design. T
Requirement for 2nd position: The candidate should have strong knowledge of signal processing and neural networks, comfortable with hardware and have a good background in Python, Matlab, and/or JAVA.
Salary is according to the guidelines of the Swiss National Science Foundation. Doctoral applicants should hold a Master's degree in an engineering /computer science-related subjects.
Contact
Interested applicants should send statement of interest, CV, transcripts and 2 reference letters to Dr. Shih-Chii Liu, shih (at) ini.uzh.ch. Deadline for application is May 2017 or until the position is filled.
