I joined INI in January 2017 as a postdoc in the Neuromorphic Cognitive Systems group. Since May 2024, I have been a group leader at INI, focusing on closed-loop neuromorphic systems. Additionally, I serve as a group leader at ZNZ, the Neuroscience Center Zurich. I graduated in biomedical engineering from the University of Pisa, Italy, and earned my PhD in Bioinspired Robotics from the Institute of BioRobotics, School of Advanced Studies in Pisa, Italy. During my studies, I focused on understanding how to develop artificial living technologies with computational capabilities similar to animals. At INI, my research interests include designing, simulating, and validating sub-threshold VLSI circuits for biomedical applications, specifically to develop closed-loop wearable devices capable of efficiently interacting with the nervous system. Robotics remains a passion of mine, and I continue to work on building closed embedded systems.
