I received a bachelor degree in Electronics Engineering from the American University in Cairo in 2016. I then joined INI as a master student in the Neural Systems and Computation program in 2018. During my studies, I developed interest in neuroprosthetic research in combination with neuromorphic hardware which led me to pursue a 9-month thesis in the topic. In my master thesis, I worked with a new dataset of nerve recordings where I designed a spike-based pipeline to preprocess and classify the hand grasps of an upper-limb amputee. Upon completion of my master’s degree, I started my PhD at INI in 2021 to pursue my research interests even further.

The aim of my PhD thesis is to restore movements to people with amputation. More precisely, I focus on the design of low-power, natural and robust prosthetic devices that would allow for fine and complex motor control.
