INI Marks 30th Anniversary with Symposium

alternate text

On Friday, June 27th, 2025, the Institute of Neuroinformatics (INI) celebrated its 30th anniversary with a full-day symposium at the University of Zurich. The event brought together leading researchers from around the world for a series of talks and panel discussions highlighting the latest advances in neuroscience and neuromorphic engineering.

The symposium featured keynote lectures from Anne Churchland (UCLA), Stefano Fusi (Columbia), Susanne Schreiber (HU Berlin), Florian Engert (Harvard), Elisabetta Chicca (Groningen), Konrad Körding (UPenn), Ila Fiete (MIT), and Matteo Carandini (UCL). Two panel sessions provided engaging discussions about the future of the field and INI’s contributions over the past three decades.

To mark the occasion, we have also published a new page on our website showcasing key statistics from INI’s 30-year history. Presented as a brief infographics slideshow, this page offers an at-a-glance overview of SNF professorships, startups, patents, external and industry collaborations, research publications, co-organized workshops, PhDs awarded, NSC master students, INI alumni, ERC grants, faculty growth, third-party funding (CHF), and flagship workshops on neuromorphic intelligence: INI 30th Anniversary

We thank all participants, speakers, and guests for making this milestone event a success!
