The International Symposium on Circuit and Systems (ISCAS) is the flagship annual conference of IEEE CASS, with typically well over 1000 participants from all areas of the world and experts in multiple disciplines and domains.

ISCAS is well established as the world’s premier networking forum in the fields of theory, design and implementation of circuits and systems, and is quickly becoming the leading forum for pioneering circuits and systems contributions to humanity’s grand challenges.

This year, at ISCAS 2014 in Melbourne, INI had a major presence:

* Christian Braendli, Federico Corradi, MinHao Yang , Shih-Chii Liu, Tobi Delbruck, Christian Mayr and Giacomo Indiveri presented their latest research results at the symposium.

* Giacomo Indiveri and Christian Mayr held two of the 22 tutorials, on the symposium opening day.

* Shih-Chii Liu, Tobi Delbruck and Giacomo Indiveri were session chairs of many of the regular tracks held at the symposium

* Tobi Delbruck and Christian Braendli presented a live demonstration of the latest vision sensor they developed at the extremely popular "Live Demo" session (a regular session that ISCAS created, thanks to Tobi's enthusiasm and persistence in proposing it as a special session in previous years).

* Giacomo Indiveri was key-note speaker in the parallel and sister conference "Circuits & Systems Society Forum on Emerging & Selected Topics (CAS-FEST)"

* Two INI alumni (Chiara Bartolozzi, now group leader at IIT, Genova, and Elisabetta Chicca, now Junior Professor at the University of Bielefeld, Germany) were organizers and chairs of a special session on "Analog Circuits for Short & Long Term Synaptic Dynamics".

Thanks to the continued active participation of INI members throughout the years, ISCAS is now having multiple tracks and sessions dedicated to INI related research activities, such as sensory systems, neuromorphic circuits and biomedical circuits and systems.

Following ISCAS 2014, the Australian neuroscience and neuromorphic community organized the one-day "Australian Neuromorphic Engineering Workshop" (ANEW), which also had a strong INI presence in the form of Christian Braendli, Federico Corradi, Shih-Chii Liu, Tobi Delbruck, Christian Mayr and Giacomo Indiveri.
This workshop was styled after the discussion sessions of the INI run "CapoCaccia Cognitive Neuromorphic Engineering Workshop". In addition to its strong ISCAS presence, INI was also able to forge new connections to the Australian research community working in this field.
