The Capo Caccia workshop 2014 was again a big success

Organized by the Institute of Neuroinformatics (INI), University of Zurich and ETH Zurich, the series of "Capo Caccia Workshops toward Cognitive Neuromorphic Engineering" represents a new initiative started in 2007 to promote research and education in Neuromorphic Engineering and Neuroscience.
Despite the adverse weather conditions this year's workshop has been yet again a great success and has probably also been one of the most productive!
About 130 participants from around the world populated the wonderful venue provided by "Hotel dei Pini". Renown computational neuroscientists, as well as biologists, physicists, mathematicians, and engineers came to learn how to build neuromorphic cognitive systems by studying and discussing topics such as cortical anatomy, neural computation, dynamics of oscillations and synchronization in neural circuits, nano-technologies, sensory-motor systems, robotics, behavior and learning. The morning discussions continued in the neuromorphic and robotics lab in the "disco", where students and researchers worked together using neural simulators and humanoid robots and tested their latest electronic hardware. The participants also had the chance to enjoy snorkeling and sailing in some of the world top-ranking bays, play summer sports or just relax on the beach in the few free moments.
